I updated to ActiveSync 4.5 and am having problems synchonising files with my trusty iPaq hx2110 with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition.
When I uninstalled 4.5 and tried to reinstall my original 3.7 version from the original CD I could not get it to run.
I need to either return to the original state - my computer will not do a system restore - or be able to synchonise files as I cannot read files that I have created on my iPac on the computer when I get home.
I would suggest re-installing Activesync 4.5, then uninstalling it again using RevoUninstaller:

Use the 'Advanced' option during the uninstall, and delete any components Revo finds leftover in your system. Activesync is very hard to get rid of, and if it leaves certain files and/or registry entries, this can make installing an earlier version difficult.
Thank you for this - I have tried several times and have now got to the stage where I installed Version 3.7 in a renamed file ActiveSync1 as opposed to the recommended one and got a bit further, I have the Version 3.7 icon on my toolbar but it does not actually open.
I am not sure that even RevoUninstall has managed to get rid of WCESMge.exe as it appears twice on my Zone Alarms Firewall List even after restarting the computer at every stage.
Can I delete this file from the registry any other way?
I have now reinstalled 3.7 and in Zone Alarms have files named WCESCOMM.EXE and WCESMGR.EXE once each. They are all checked green, but the program still will not run.
Sorry, I have no recent experience with ZA so cannot offer any advice with that program. Tried it in about 2004, briefly, found it made using my computer very difficult, so uninstalled it. Firewalls are often reported as being problematic in trying to get connections working with Activesync, so frankly I'm not surprised that you are experiencing difficulties.
